411 ESSENTIAL INFO
Compiled by Mike O'Connell
ADVENTURE
• This November, Alderac Entertainment
Group will introduce the third of its pro-
jected five expansions to the "Legend of
the Five Rings" CCG. Since the new expan-
sion, "Anvil of Despair," was still being
play-tested at press time, specific infor-
mation was unavailable. D.J. Trindle, an
editor at large for Alderac, describes the
expansion as "the low point of the 'Five
Rings' story, in which everything gets
bleakest." Alderac has already released the
"Shadowlands" and "Forbidden Knowl-
edge", expansions, as well as a second
printing of the basic game.
• Fans of Black Dragon Press' "Dragon
Storm" card game will want to check out
two new books. Coming of the Storms,
which appeared in August, provides back-
ground information on the Stormlands,
game-playing tips, and a complete "Drag-
on Storm" card list. Adventures in the
Kanchaka Valley, due to reach stores this
December, will recount the history of the
Kanchaka Valley, the Deacon, and the
Zachtos clan. Each book contains 48
pages and retails for $9.95.

In November, Black Dragon will add
180 cards to "Dragon Storm" with "The
Kanchaka Campaign" expansion, which
will allow players to create adventures in
the Kanchaka Valley. Booster packs offer
15 cards for $2.95.
• Leagues are currently forming for the
"Quest for the Grail" fantasy card game.
Special 70-card League decks are avail-
able for $12 each. "The league decks have
more cards in them," says Stone Ring
Games' David Nalle. "You'll also get vari-
ous supporting materials which should
be cool."
To differentiate between leagues, Stone
Ring will mark the League decks with
special stamps. "We have seven different
identifiers that are unique and we have
different colors to ink them with," explains
Nalle. "[Decks for] the first 10 [leagues]
will be stamped with a metallic gold; the
next 20 will be silver-stamped. If it gets to

groups," says Nalle. "The game plays rath-

petitive as 'Magic' It's more of a congen-

Though it's a stand-alone boxed game,
the "Mythos Standard Set" is completely
compatible with the original "Mythos"
CCG and the "Dreamlands" expansion due
out this Christmas. Both the basic game
and the new expansion will have a limit-
ed print run. Chaosium will keep the
"Standard Set" in print.
Due to the overwhelming response
to the original "Mythos" CCG, Chaosium
plans to develop its own card line. Expect
more card games in the near future.
SUPERHEROES
• Fleer/SkyBox International contin-
ues to expand its popular "OverPower"
collectible card game. September saw the
release of "DC OverPower," which intro-
duces characters from the other major
comic book company - and a fourth
power. While "OverPower's" Marvel char-
